Our company founder has over three decades of experience in both training and handling dogs from the Armed Forces through to the commercial sector and is one of only two people to win the Open Canine Biathlon competition twice. Whether sniffing out bombs or drugs, acting as a deterrent or an active tool, we work to the highest national standards as one of the most effective security teams in the locality.

General Purpose Dogs
Working with highly trained German Shepherd security dogs is one of our specialities.  Used on patrol or search tasks, a guard dog can cover a site that would normally require several guards.  This is very effective in the dark and on sites that are more difficult for guards to patrol.   

Our expertise covers the important relationship between guard and dog ensuring both a confident and relaxed relationship both at work and off-duty.  We know not all Security Officers will make Dog Handlers and that many dogs, although generally suitable, are unlikely to fulfil the strict and arduous task of guarding.

Passive and pro-active drugs detection
In response to Government and HM Customs initiatives, Lowes Guarding Service offers a Home Office licensed Drugs Detection Service using both passive and pro-active dogs.  Dogs have always been a strength with Lowes Guarding Service and this area of expertise is part of our continual development as a company to be at the leading edge of security and guarding services.  We are fully licensed by the Home Office and our dogs can detect any narcotic down to 1 gram or less and do not discriminate between males and females or race and ethnicity.  The dogs are able to detect drugs being carried on a person but are just as equally able to detect narcotics stored in bags, crates and other containers.  They will also detect drugs in buildings, vessels and open spaces.  This can be a useful service for Property Owners/Managers wishing to control and eliminate the menace of illegal drug use on their premises. 

Explosives search
Our company founder is able to offer this new service exclusively in response to the ongoing threat of a terrorist attack.  The Explosive Search Dogs undergo extensive training methods (which are ongoing) and are trained to recover commercial explosives and black powder.  The dogs are qualified to search a multitude of areas ranging from conferences, special events, buildings, vehicles and open spaces.

Dog training
Our expertise has led others to ask us for support and advice in developing their skills as a handler or to assist with the training of their dogs. This type of training ranges from general dog handling to dog obedience and agility.  Lowes Guarding Service dogs are only ever trained in one discipline be it general purpose security guarding, drug detection or explosive detection and is something we take very seriously.  Unlike other similar service providers, we do not cross-train our dogs because although our dogs will detect any scent they have been trained to find, they are unable to tell the handler what the substance is. This can lead to unnecessary complications in what could already be an emergency situation.  Our firm policy is that if a handler deploys a drugs detection dog and that dog indicates a find, the handler can be sure that it is a narcotic and not explosives.
